This is undoubtedly, undisputedly the best sandwich place around! It is totally the love at first taste, knock your socks off, the one that you dream of kind of a place. Well, don’t look at me like that – no one paid me to write this stuff. You’ve just got to eat it to believe it! Paseo with its two locations in Seattle is a Cuban/ Caribbean sandwich place. The surprising thing is that till I went to this place the first time I had not heard of it before. So we were a little skeptical at first. But just one look at the line of people waiting outside this shack of a place and we knew we are going to get something good from there. It wasn’t just good – it was great! Plus its a great place with benches outside for a good spring/summer day.
That is the Cuban Roast ($6.75) which is the most popular sandwich there that you are seeing in the picture above. It is slow roasted Pork shoulder covered in Paseo marinade served with jalapenos and caramelized onions. As described in the menu the meat pieces really were falling apart into succulent morsels. AJ totally enjoyed his sandwich. The caramelized onions are just so awesome that they are there in all the sandwiches (atleast in all 4 that we have eaten) and there is a vegetarian sandwich – Onion Obsession Sandwich ($5.50) with just caramelized onions, garlic tapenade and fresh cilantro. That was a pretty awesome sandwich too.

Now that is the Ham and Queso Melt ($6.50) which has smoke cured ham over banana peppers and melted Swiss cheese over it. Of course, there is the caramelized onions here too. Another vegetarian option here is the Tofu Delight ($6.75) with organic tofu sautéed in olive oil and served with garlic tapenade and the caramelized onions. I’m sure even the tofu haters will love this one!
I promise – this is the last picture I have here of the sandwiches. No more tempting!

Paseo has two locations in Seattle – Fremont and Ballard. If you are ever in Seattle visiting, or if you are a Seattleite and you are in the Ballard/Fremont vicinity please do make sure that you go here. Make sure you go well ahead of the time you may feel hungry and also pls carry cash on you as there is no plastic accepted here. It is a good idea to grab a bunch of napkins before you start eating as these sandwiches can be quite messy. If you are still embarrassed pack up and go home to eat. If you can’t wait long enough to reach home, which I’m sure is gonna be the case, eat in the car!!
